Argentina's new rules change the traditional way of determining the weight of cargo in ports. It also clarified the role of SENASA in ship inspection and cargo hold inspection.
The general resolution 4138-e / 2017 of the Argentine customs authorities entered into force on 4 October, stipulating that importers and exporters may now choose to use the method to determine the weight of dry bulk. However, the customs authorities still have the right to conduct a countercheck on the weight declared by the bank.
The new resolution abolishes resolution 3506/2013, which has been in force since 2013, to reduce the time required to complete customs inspections.
The shortage claims resulting from the use of coastal measurements have been a problem for Argentina for many years, involving all kinds of bulk goods imported or exported. The priority system for weighing goods is usually specified in the sales contract, which is usually not affected by the carrier.
