60% of Canadians support the signing of a free trade agreement with China

A survey of the University of Alberta in Canada shows that 60% of Alberta residents want Canada to establish closer ties with China, and 49% believe that China's growing economic strength will benefit the province.

The survey results show that 56% of respondents believe that the signing of a free trade agreement with China is beneficial to the Alberta economy. The same survey conducted in the summer of 2016 shows that only 44% of residents want to negotiate with China on the free trade agreement.

48% of respondents support investment from China, 51% support China to invest in Canada's energy sector. While the 2015 support rate was 5% and 9% respectively. At present, China's investment support rate is the highest since 2011.

Against China's investment accounted for 25% of the number of people opposed to China's investment in the field of energy ratio of 22%, 18% of people are not convinced that Canada will bring benefits to the Alberta.
